The Organisation

Swachid movement was founded on 15 August 1985 in Chennai, India. An acronym for Soldiers of War Against Corruption, Hunger, Ignorance and Disease, Swachid is not institutionalized. But it has motivated people, specially the youth, to launch their own initiatives to tackle these universal problems.

This website is intended to globalize the effort by bringing together all those who are in the service of the people. The focus will be on the effort and achievement of the governments, public institutions and social activists. Relevant information, profiles and field reports will be published.

Eventually, a global network of Swachid centers will be created. These centers will offer programs on leadership training, self-improvement, environmental and health education and inspirational guidance to individuals for a holistic outlook on life.

You are invited to join this movement aimed at freeing the people of the world from the shackles of corruption, hunger, ignorance and disease. By joining Swachid you become a global citizen rising above the narrow confines of nationalism and all kinds of fanaticism based on race, religion, language or clan.

A Swachid center will become operative in your own place if you enroll in groups of 7 or more. There is no enrolment fee. Guidance material will be given on this website from time to time. Apart from publishing reports on your activities your views and suggestions in the form of letters or articles will find a place in this website.
